RED WING, Minn (May 10, 2017) –The Prairie Island Indian Community broke ground in 2016 on an $86 million dollar project to that would include a number of phases to complete additions and remodeling to the existing Treasure Island Resort & Casino property.

The most recent addition is set to open May 12, to the extremely popular The Lagoon water park. The addition includes 1913 square feet of splashing pool space. The new pool has a number of functions including a lap pool which can double for water volleyball when not being used for laps, an activity area with two in pool basketball hoops and a warm water spa. There is also 2397 square feet of indoor deck space with comfortable fun seating around the new activity pool.

Other amenities that are being added to The Lagoon include an outside patio directly off the new activity pool that will be opening June of this year. This area will feature outdoor patio chairs and a fire pit. The new patio area can also be rented for private parties through our Sales Department. Dressing rooms with showers and lockers are also being added. When all is complete, the total space of The Lagoon both inside and outdoor space will be 35,000 square feet.

December 2016 was the opening of a new casino close to the hotel lobby. The casino is all smoke-free and features many new slot machines along with the non-smoking Element Bar & Lounge. The big beautiful windows add natural light and the stunning new décor are a preview of the casino floor remodel project. The current casino will undergo a two year remodel that will include new carpet, lights and wall covering along with new theming.

The two new hotel towers are well under construction. This portion of the project will include approximately 184,000 square feet for the new towers and will connect to the current Eagle tower. One tower will be eight stories and the other will be seven, for a total of 308 new hotel rooms that will include suites, premiere rooms and guest rooms. The upper floors will overlook the scenic beauty and bluffs of Prairie Island. The new hotel towers will feature upscale furnishings and upgraded amenities, including spacious walk-in showers and access to the latest technology. This portion of the project will provide the additional hotel rooms that have been in high demand over the past several years and is scheduled to open December 2017.

The hotel lobby is currently under renovation to have enhanced front desk features to improve the overall check-in experience for guests. New features will include self check-in areas, an expanded concierge area and a guest lounge space. A new coffee shop will also be added between the lobby and new hotel towers.
