We have big sports year ahead of us in 2020 and I can’t wait to get into it all. Sure, it is a presidential election year, but you can’t bet on debates, though I sure wish we could. So, as we start to look ahead to see what excitement we can start preparing for, find your tickets, book your hotel and gear up for some great sports getaways!

$1 Million Champion Tamar M. from del Lago Resort and Casino
The largest slot tournament in the world crowned another $1 million winner. This year’s TournEvent of Champions® winner Tamar M. won the grand prize on October 16 at XS Nightclub in the Wynn/Encore Las Vegas Resort. Tamar M., representing del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, New York, walked away with the grand prize of One Million Dollars*, bringing to a conclusion the industry’s premier slot tournament.

The 2019 TournEvent of Champions kicked off in May 2019 featuring two tour buses traveling more than 20,000 miles across North America with The Money Man®, Everi’s iconic brand ambassador, to visit 86 partner casinos. More than 230,000 participants competed in TournEvent qualifiers to identify the top 153 players who competed in The Million Dollar Event on October 16 for a share of more than $1.3 million in cash prizes, including the One Million Dollar* top prize.
This year’s event also included a charity slot tournament between rounds 1 and 2 of The Million Dollar Event during which $10,000 will be donated to winners’ charities of choice. Some of the industry’s most subscribed to slot stars on YouTube and well-respected trade journalists and publishers participated in the Slot Star Charity TournEvent. Jason with King Jason Slots came in first playing for Autism Speaks, followed by Sarah with Slotlady in second place for Cancer Research Institute, and Diana Evoni with Vegas Slot Machine Videos in third place for Sunday Friends.

Getting the lowest house edges on casino games usually takes some doing but is achievable and worth the time to obtain when you can.
For example, if you want to reduce the house edge in blackjack to less than 1 percent, you need to learn basic strategy for every possible hand vs. every possible dealer face-up card. Some video poker games have house edges of less than 1 percent – or even have a player edge in some cases – but you need to know strategy for the specific game.

When it comes to beating the odds in the casino, sometimes the best strategy is to make your casino getaway less about the gambling, and more about pampering yourself and enjoying the amenities offered. While the casino’s may not like to hear us say that, they wouldn’t build these luxurious spas, indoor pools, concert venues and more if they didn’t feel their guests would utilize them. In our opinion, it is the amenities like these that sway visitation, and encourage us visit time and time again, and for G&D to continue to write about them in our articles.
